It is obvious that I want David vividly in our legacy.
I find it pleasing and intriguing that this fancy modern tech stuff enables me to permanently preserve the memory of this awkward man from another time.
Me wanting a place for stories about Dave is the Caring Life Force (his word was Rejectiveness).
We call it love. However his wild originality, and my confidence, is the Performance Life Force (his Vanity).
Then we have to include the fact that we only have social media because of engineering and equipment, that is the Material Life Force (which David oddly called Hostility, that for another time).
Just to say, without the Material and its devices and programs, his thought, his Philosophy, could not be preserved in this way.
There was an informality around both David and the Activator Unit. It is so lucky for me that is captured in the NFB film “Activator One” which as I have said before is both on www.pellininstitute.com and also Youtube.
David was never the guru. He was challenged daily to change his shirt or drink less diet coke.
There was always a small stack of laundered white shirts. To this day I believe at times he deliberately spits coffee on his shirt so someone would come and say quietly, “Dave, you need to change your shirt”.
It is hard to put someone on a pedestal and turn him into a guru if you are telling him to change his shirt.
In the Caring Life Force, we have a place for affection and stories. So does AA (Alcoholics Anonymous).
Other schools and approaches do not. To me it is odd that in the study of the human there is not room for the personal stories of the human.
